Franken-free Friday: white, grey and sparkley all over!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Today’s post is a mixed bag of some random NOTD’s I have done recently. Grey is a very close second to green as my favorite polish color, and what I mostly wore this past week.

Up first…one of my favorite whites, Zoya Ginessa. This color reminds me of freshly fallen snow. Crisp, clean and shimmery. It was opaque in two coats, but I did three for a little extra sparkle.

Another beloved holo of mine is China Glaze Let’s Do It In 3-D, a charcoal grey holo. The entire Kaleidoscope collection is incredible (and sadly discontinued), but this one really stands out because it is so unique. It’s not black, it’s not silver…but somewhere in between. This is two thin coats, and it applied quite nicely.

Color Club’s Who Are You Wearing is a pale greyish/lavender color quite similar to my beloved BB Couture Intake Valve, but a bit lighter and the formula wasn’t as good. The first and second coats went on a bit streaky, but it was good to go in three. I’m digging these weird grey-ish colors lately.

Oh, and speaking of BB Couture…I wore one of their awesome greys, Opposites Attract this week. OA is a medium grey cream with tiny flecks of silver glitter in it. It reminds me of a sidewalk! I know I’ve raved about BBC before (and probably will again!) but it is only because it is well-deserved praise. Their formula is outstanding…one of the best I have ever used. This is two thin coats, and of course it covered beautifully.

I buy all my BB Coutures from, and they also carry a variety of other cosmetics as well. In fact, Kim (the owner) recently sent me some pigment samples of their colors to use in frankening. I am excited about these…so excited, in fact, that I will be showing them off all next week. That’s right, a franken every day! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend, all!

The White Queen

Good morning, franken-friends!
Today I have an Alice In Wonderland themed polish for you. I have yet to see the new AiW with Johnny Depp, but from what I’ve heard, it is very good. When I was a kid, my sister and I were obsessed with the 80’s version that had Carol Channing playing the White Queen, as well as several other stars playing the characters. My old VHS copy is still tucked away somewhere…I can’t bring myself to get rid of it, even though I haven’t had a VCR for years!

Anyways…back to our franken! I used Milani Honey Coated, and Tinker Pink pigment from Pure Luxe.

I filled an empty bottle almost full of Honey Coated, then added in 1 teaspoon of Tinker Pink pigment, and shook well.

Alright, well not that impressive in the bottle. On my nails, it was a different story.

OMG I love this one! ❤ It has a pretty satin-like sheen to it, and an ever-so-subtle blue shimmery flash. Perfect for those days you can't pick a color to wear…this really goes with everything!

I even decided to play around with it the next day and jazz it up a little with a double funky french. I used green glitter and silver glitter nail art pens:

I just made a whole batch of new frankens, and can’t wait to show you all. Also, I have some other goodies to giveaway, so check back soon! Thanks for stopping by! 😛

Goddess of the Earth

I have another planetary delight for you today!

For this one, I used Maybelline clear polish and Travel to Earth pigment from TKB Trading.

I filled a 0.25 oz bottle 3/4 full of clear, and added 1 teaspoon of Earth pigment. Earth is a shimmery white, with a pretty green flash.

I love this! White that flashes green? Big thumbs up!

Thanks for looking…check back for more Planetary fun!

Playing with Pigments- Part 2

Back for more? 🙂
As I mentioned in my previous post, I received a ton of lovely pigment samples from a friend, and have been having a ball with them. Lately, I’ve really been liking shimmery white polishes, so I am going to try out one of the white pigments. This one, called “Inter Gold Sparkle Mica” is a pretty white with fine gold shimmer.
For the base, I’m going to use a combination of 2/3 clear (NYC Clear) and 1/3 white (NYC French Tip White Creme).

After adding ballz and shaking, I let the polish mix sit for a few minutes so I could accurately gauge how full the bottle was. You want make sure there’s enough room for the pigment.
I slowly added the entire packet of pigment (about 1 teaspoon full) into the mix using a paper funnel, then followed up with another bout of vigorous shaking! Now we have a soft white polish with a subtle golden shimmer.
It’s hard to capture the shimmer, but it really softens up the white and adds a touch of glimmer to the polish.
