Girly Overload

I’d like to thank everyone that voted on my poll! I always love input from readers, and like to know what kind of polishes you all like to see!

I’ve been catching up on reader requests, inventing some cool new frankens, and I will be having my first ever giveaway *very* soon!

Today’s franken is a sweet combination of our top two contenders for what you wanted more of…jelly and glitter. It is also a super duper girly color! I used an ancient Parfait brand pink creme (of course if you don’t have an antique pink laying around, feel free to substitute), New York Summer Alpha Jewel glitter, and Maybelline clear topcoat.

I poured 1/3 each of the pink and clear into an empty bottle, then mixed in 2/3 of Alpha Jewel glitter.

Bubble gum pink with a twist! Shiny and glittery! My nails haven’t been behaving lately, so I have been forced to keep them shorter than I prefer.

Plum Preserves

I have some really awesome super glitters coming up, but today I have the last of my recent jellies! Reader Mimi asked if there was anything else she could use Sinful Dream On for (what I used for Grapesicle), and I also had a few requests for a purple jelly polish. Todays franken takes care of both!

I used Sinful Dream On, Wet ‘N Wild clear, and Wet ‘N Wild Black Creme.

I filled an empty bottle half full with clear, then added in just less than 1/2 of Dream On. This leaves room to add in the black, which I used about 20 drops of. You can use more of less, depending on how dark or light you want the purple.

Like other jellies, this has super shine to it! I used three coats, and it covered well. My application is slightly messier than normal…drinking a whole pot of coffee before swatching isn’t really a good idea!

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

I have received a lot of compliments on my “Jackie Green Jelly” polish, so I decided to make a navy version!

I used New York Summer Hot Sky Blue, Wet ‘N Wild clear, and Wet ‘N Wild Black Creme.

I poured 1/2 Hot Sky Blue into and empty bottle, then added almost 1/2 of clear into it. I used 10 drops of the black creme to darken the mix into a deep navy.

As with most jelly polishes, this took 4 coats to be opaque, but it was well worth it! It is a true navy, and even it low light it still looks dark blue and not black. This is without a top coat on it, and look how shiny it is!

Swimsuit Mishap

Ok, I am sure you’re scratching your head at the name of today’s franken!

I’ve been working hard on all the franken requests I’ve received lately. Kerriann emailed me a request for a dupe to Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Bikini Bottom. This proved to be quite the challenge for me…and after much experimenting, “Swimsuit Mishap” was born. It seemed like a fitting name for this, since it was a bit of a problem child for me! RBL’s Bikini Bottom is a lovely pale blue with a distinct jelly finish to it, and I wanted to make sure my franken captured that same “squishyness”. Sadly, I don’t own BB, so I had to make my franken based on pictures of it.

I used Sally Girl Surf’s Up blue creme, Wet N’ Wild French White Creme, and Wet ‘N Wild clear.

I filled an empty bottle half full with clear, then added in just a tiny bit less than 1/4 each of the white and blue. I added ballz and mixed it up well.

The polish is not quite as bright as my picture shows, and it is much more jelly-like in real life.

I used 4 thin coats, although 3 probably would have been sufficient. This polish was truly a franken challenge, but I did have fun making it! Thanks for the request, Kerriann!

Candy City

Ok, here is the last of my glitters…for now!

For this one, I used Wet N’ Wild Psycho, Wet ‘N Wild clear, and NYC Pink Promenade.

I filled up an empty bottle half full with WnW Psycho, then added 1/4 each of clear and NYC Pink Promenade. The result is a pinkish coral jelly, with beautiful sparkle!

It looks like candy on my nails! Tasty, sparkley candy!
