Red Supernova

Hello franken-friends!
Today’s franken is a color I made for my friend Hanna. I wanted to make a jazzy purple for her, and after some experimenting, I came up with a concoction that is really cool. I asked Hanna if she would do my the honor of naming it, and she gladly accepted.

I used Color Club Electronica (please excuse the broken bottle top!), LA Colors Art Deco in Red Glitter, and Pure Ice Heartbreaker.

I filled an empty bottle half full of Electronica, and added half each of Red Glitter and Heartbreaker.

The shimmer in this one is super pretty!

I’m so glad this turned out so nice! Of course I made sure to make myself a bottle of this as well!

Old School Cool

Today’s franken is a simple one, but really packs a punch!

I used Sally Hansen X-treme Wear in Limelight, and CM Echo Blue (any medium blue shimmer will do).

I filled an empty bottle with 2/3 of Limelight, then added in 1/3 of Echo Blue.

This one is a super glowy blue with a green shimmery flash! Very cool indeed!

Snazzy Cupcake

I’ve been making a lot of strange colors lately, so today I decided to tone it down and bit and make something a bit more subdued.

I used Sally Hansen Star Opals in Violet Opal, and Sinful Lying Nails.

I added half of each color to an empty bottle, and shook well. Piece of cake! Well, make that cupcake…

This shimmery pink has a violet flash to it, and is a lovely shade that would look fabulous on anyone!

Special Guest “Dr.Karen”

It is a pleasure to have Karen from Pretty-Random as a guest frankener today! Karen is not only a cool chick, but one hell of an awesome frankener! Her franken, “Joker’s Wild” totally blew me away…and hopefully you all enjoy it as much as I did!

Karen’s recipe is as follows:

1/3 Wet & Wild Eggplant Frost
2/3 Silver Glitter (any in a clear base will do – I think I used Jordana)
Plus a generous helping of green hex glitter and purple hex glitter.
I didnt measure, just dumped it on in.

Voila! I think it could use a few drops of blue though!

Sir, Yes Sir!

Alright, soldiers…drop and give me ten! Ten pretty nails to paint, that is! I have a REALLY cool army green franken today that hopefully will excuse my awful jokes! This one has been a while in the making, since I had an idea in my head of what color I wanted, but just couldn’t bring it to life. Until now!

I used Wet ‘N Wild black creme, NY Summer Greenish, and Cosmo Yellow.

I filled an empty bottle with 2/3 of Greenish, 1/3 of Yellow, and about ten drops of black.

The result is the army green with subtle shimmer that I’ve been lusting after! This is two very thin coats, and you can see it covered quite well.

Volcano Lake

Today’s franken is bit of a strange one. This was another “experiment”, and I wasn’t sure just how it would turn out…but I’m pleased with it! It is definitely not a color for everyone, but it’s certainly different!

I used Wet ‘N Wild black creme, CM Echo Blue, LA Splash Sparkling Lava, and Wet ‘N Wild clear.

I filled an empty bottle half full of Sparkling Lava, added 1/4 each of Echo Blue and clear, then added ten drops of black.

I’ve always loved navy and orange together, so it made sense to combine them into a franken! The orange glitter stands out better on than in the bottle.

This is two coats, no basecoat or topcoat over it. I also took a picture in natural light to show the glitter a little better.

Luminous

It’s been a while since a had a duochrome to show you, so let’s see if we can remedy that right now!

I used Revlon Colorstay in Sparks, Maybelline Violet Waters, and Sherer Chameleon polish in Blue Sky.

I filled an empty bottle 1/2 full of Sparks, then added 1/4 each of Violet Waters and Blue Sky.

Not only is this a duochrome, but it has tiny microglitter in it as well, giving it a unique look! I bumped my mani against my desk as I was taking these photos, so please excuse the weirdness on my thumb and pinky…it’s not the polish itself (just my clumsiness)!



Such a cool color! I really like this one a lot!

A very special franken…”Oceanmist”

Today I have a very special treat for you! I received a beautiful franken from my pal Amy (shopping_sushi_style over at MUA). She named it “Oceanmist” after my Makeupalley user name, OceanMist27, and it couldn’t be more properly named.

It is a gorgeous teal/green shimmer…the color of cool Caribbean waters! Amy said she used SH Lacquer Shine in Flash (approx.70%) and the yellow jelly from Hot Topic (the one that looks like egg yolk) to make this.

What a wonderful surprise this was! It was incredibly sweet of Amy to make this for me. I’m proudly wearing her creation today, and can’t stop staring at my nails. <3 Thank you, Amy!
